The photos selected in green are the ones we have selected for our social media page as they have the most meaning and represent the artist to the audience , the first photo in green is a low angle shot that makes the artist look more powerful, moreover, the luxury car he is in is very conventional for a typical rapper showing off his car and expensive jewellery. This also helps with branding as it appeals to the young aspirers. The second photo represents that both artists are friends in real life which links with the idea of the song about betrayal as it suggests that those two friends are very loyal to their friendship. The photos selected in red are the ones that have not been chosen to be posted.

Initial digipak ideas

 My initial for the digipak is to represent the artist as a very powerful but secretive individual , with the use of conventional for the rap genre props such as expensive jewelry and luxury items which will attract the audience's attention as well as create an enigma code as the audiences would want to get to know the artist even more.

The artist being secretive by for instance covering his face or not looking straight in the camera depicts the feelings of the characters and his mental state. The audience will have the option to take care of this feeling and will be able to tell there is a tragic story behind this character.  Conventional props will make the audience engage with the artists and satisfy their interest. 

Moreover, my idea is to put a unique different background to the image of the artist creating meaning and  hyperreality which also keeps the audiences satisfied and interested, and they will be more likely to listen to the song as they have been attracted by the digipak. The artist will be represented in the front cover which attracts audiences attention and creates the desire to listen to the songs or at least to look inside the digipak and find out more about it. The back will contain the list of the songs included in the album as well as the parental advisory warning which shows that the material is not appropriate for children making it very stereotypical for the rap genre as the offensive language is used in the songs. 

The name of the album will be located in the middle, so the audience would be able to clearly see the name in bold, bright colours such as white, which stands out on the dark background, allowing the audience to pay more attention to the title. Dark, dusky colours such as black and navy blue will be used to create a meaning and enigma codes, which will initiate the audience to be more implicated in listening to the album. 

Digipak analysis 1

 This is a cover of Lil Uzi Vert’s cover. The cover has a variety of small drawings all over, this suggests that he wanted to make the digipak more personalized. The use of a certain font makes people clearly see the names of the songs and an image of the artist, it also allows them to see the parental advisory sign which is also very important as it shows what kind of music it is, moreover, the ‘ Off-White’ sign shows that the brand did a collaboration with the artist and had an input in the design of the cover, this is good as it gets the company more recognised and the album more wanted by the audience. The cover also has Uzi, who is the artist on the front but without saying his name, representing that he is more of an image than a name reflected through his unique style and showing. The cover has all the names of the songs written on it, some of them are ‘Dark Queen’, ‘Neon Guts’, ‘Early 20 Rage’. This allows people to know and remember the songs that are included in this album, the song names are also all handwritten, making the album seem more personal and meaningful to the artist. The parental advisory sign warning suggests that is it not appropriate for children, this is also very conventional for a hip-hop rap genre due to the offensive language used in the songs. 

Analysis of codes within a social media page 2

 This instagram page is by Dababy. He is a fairly new artist, however hes has gained 17 million followers. He is both conventional and unconventional, this is because he posts basic pictures of himself wearing jewellery but on the other hand he also posts pictures with his daughter. The technical codes within his social media page are very conventional he uses the same camera angles as most rappers however he doesn't position himself as above his fans he [opstions himself as the same this is probably to portray himself as the same as the fans so they feel like they can relate to him as a person he also gives previews of his upcoming songs as well. In addition to this, The written codes he uses are very rare he does not post many things with different fonts and unique captions he is very conventional with his posts only on unique occasions will he post with unique captions and fonts this is so he can entice new audiences to his page. Finally the technical codes used in his page are very similar, the mise en scene is him and his expensive clothing as well as his luxury vehicles. However he also makes some posts that have deeper meanings behind them for example Dababy was a big advocate for social change after the incidents in America this helped get the issues to a wider audience and portrayed dababy as a person who cares about his community. 

Analysis of the codes within a social media page

 This instagram  page is by well- known artist Travis Scott. We can see straight away from the photos he is not like other rappers, this is because he posts pictures with his daughter which is unconventional for a rap artist as they normally portray themselves as tough guy’s. The technical codes used in travis Scott's instagram page are very unique and sets himself apart from other artists. One example of this is the unique filters and low camera angles this helps the artist portray himself as powerful as the audience is positioned below him, this makes the audience look up the artist and aspire to be like him this will help with the artits branding as audiences will be more likely to engage with his posts. In addition to this the written codes within his social media page are he uses crazy fonts to appeal to all audiences this helps audiences engage with his posts as they are already intrigued before they click on the post, this is good for travis scott as he also brands his merchandise and tours in this way this makes his products stand out to audiences. Finally the symbolic codes within his social media page he is very conventional as he posts pictures with his nice vehicles and luxury clothing he also portrays himself as happy this is not very conventional of a rapper as they always try to look tough.

Transport/access:

shooting next to the road – risks need to be assessed for location and PRAF done. There are cars on the road, that would need to be considered if filming there

Toilets are available in the petrol station on the way to the different locations

if locations are busy this may cause us problems to film as we will not be able to film all the shots we need 

Camera/sound:

There are power banks and power supply available to us anywhere at the location

There are other cars and people that could cause problems if shooting in that area

Food:

Food There are cafes and restaurants near all locations as well as basic confectionery/sandwiches in the petrol stations. Moreover, we will provide drinks and some snacks while filming,

Director issues:

Some of the locations within the black box may be unavailable due to not having access this may hinder the ability to get good shots as well cast and crew members may not be available on certain days due to extracurricular activities within the school

Camera/lighting issues:

the lighting within the black box may not be working since this means we would need to book lighting in advance to make sure we get sufficient lighting in advance we will also need to make sure the camera is charged to get all the shots we need  

Sound issues:

there are no particular sound issues however if we were to film during school hours there may be excess noise from the children in the school however this can be solved by filing after school

Camera/lighting issues:

 The lights in the villa may be too bright this may need to be corrected in the editing. We will also need to make sure the camera is charged to get all the shots we need

we need to make sure all cast and crew members who are in this location do not cause sound problems during the scenes to make sure all the shots are perfect as well as a microphone may be needed if there is dialogue in the scenes 

 

director issues:

Some of the locations within the house may be hard to access for all crew members this may make it hard to get all the shots  for example bedrooms or bathrooms this may hinder the quality and if we are even able to get the shots

Camera/lighting issues

The camera will need to be charged as there may not be access to a power source as well as the settings will need to be correct to make sure the shoot is not wasted

the time of day may cause if we go while it's still sunny this may affect how the shot looks and may cause some shots to be overexposed to sunlight  

Sound issues:

the bridge may be busy so there is always the risk of people making noise within the background and the cars driving past to solve this we may choose to film at a later time so there are fewer people  

Director issues:

we do not have access to all the equipment due to covid 19 reasons so some shots may not be steady and the director may not get good shots due to possible disruptions

The artists will be rapping in a luxurious car/house to help show off the wealth of the artist this portrays typical stereotypes of the rap genre Both artists will be wearing ski masks in the scene this gives the audience reason to use enigma codes to wonder why the artists are wearing these masks      For the final scenes, the two artists will be together rapping and as the song fades we will see both artists embrace each other to help signify the close relationship of the artists.
